The U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa is temporarily suspending all travel for U.S. Chief of Mission employees to Gondar until further notice.
The Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) said in a security message to U.S.citizens that the Embassy is monitoring a report of an explosion on January 10, 2017 at approximately 8:30 p.m. at the Entasole Hotel in the town.
“The Embassy continues to remind U.S. citizens of the risks associated with traveling to Ethiopia at this time,” the security message said.
There were two grenade explosions in the amhara region in a span of one week.
Police said one person was killed and 18 others wounded after a grenade was thrown on Tuesday into the Entasol Hotel in Gondar town.
A grenade explosion hit the Grand Hotel in Bahir Dar Wednesday night. No injuries were reported.
