↵ Dr. Abebe Goshu Semahagn, @SemahagnAbebe, a man who prides himself on being an intellectual and political analyst. But behind the credentials lies a pattern of dishonesty and obsession. He despises AFPO and Eskinder Nega. But if you ask him why, he will not give you any rational or logical explanation. Like the rest of the Zemene cult that hates Eskinder, his hatred is not grounded in reason. It is driven by emotion, personal bias, and blind loyalty.
⇐ Take a look at his latest post. He goes out of his way to justify Zemene’s presence at a conference organized and attended by people who are openly anti-Amhara.
His first excuse for Zemene is that he was there to express the Amhara cause, supposedly to create awareness. As if the Amhara cause is some mystery that needs to be introduced to these people. Amhara politics is already front and center in Ethiopian political discourse.
The genocide against Amharas has been widely exposed. So who exactly needs this awareness on such a platform? The perpetrators themselves?
He then says maybe Zemene did not know Sibhat Nega would be there. That excuse is laughable. If Zemene claimed he did not know, would that magically make everything acceptable? Would it change the nature of the event or the lineup of known anti-Amhara individuals? Of course not.
And that is the real issue. Sibhat Nega is not the exception. The entire roster that attended the conference, including Gedu, consisted of individuals who have insulted, threatened, dehumanized, or directly contributed to the genocide of the Amhara people. So again, what exactly is Abebe talking about? What is he even defending?
The mental gymnastics he performs to excuse and defend Zemene are pathetic.
Now imagine if Eskinder or any AFPO figure had attended that event. The outrage would have been instant. They would have called for the death of Eskinder or whichever leader was present. And they would call for the eradication of AFPO.
The backlash would have been nonstop, driven by performative indignation. Dr. Abebe would have been among the first to condemn it, without hesitation but full of pretense. That is the hypocrisy at the heart of his politics.
Just a month ago, Dr. Abebe shared an article from Meseret Media, filled with lies claiming that AFPO was preparing to negotiate with Abiy’s government. There was no formal announcement from AFPO, not even a hint of such an intention. But to him, the mere title was enough. That alone was betrayal. Unacceptable. Unforgivable.
When Zemene says he will negotiate with Abiy under certain conditions, Dr. Abebe stays silent and calls it no problem.
When Zemene works with the TPLF, Dr. Abebe looks the other way and calls it no problem.
When Zemene sits with known anti-Amhara figures, Dr. Abebe finds a way to justify it and calls it no problem.
Dr. Abebe Goshu Semahagn presents himself as an intellectual and political analyst, but his conduct tells a different story. He defends Zemene Kassie’s alliances with known anti-Amhara organizations, justifies his participation in events hosted by individuals openly hostile to the Amhara cause, and remains silent when Zemene expresses willingness to negotiate with Abiy or collaborate with the TPLF. In each case, Dr. Abebe looks the other way or makes excuses.
Yet when it comes to AFPO or Eskinder Nega, his stance shifts entirely. There is no tolerance, no objectivity, and no effort to verify facts. He attacks them aggressively, without credible justification, driven more by animosity than analysis.
This double standard reveals not only a pattern of selective outrage and blind loyalty, but also a troubling lack of integrity. It is not the behavior of a principled thinker, but of someone consumed by bias and political resentment.
This is not the behavior of a true intellectual.
